Swiss photography competition to mark the International Year of Soils 2015

Around 700 photographs on the topic of soil were submitted for the photography competition. The winners will be honoured at the closing event of the International Year of Soils in Berne.

​The photography competition was launched by the Federal Offices for the Environment (FOEN), Agriculture (FOAG) and Spatial Development (ARE) in cooperation with the environmental expert group of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects. During the last six months, many participants submitted their pictures. Participation was high, with around 700 pictures being submitted. The jury, consisting of soil specialists as well as photographers, rated the images according to photographic and thematic criteria. The winning images will be published in the FOEN magazine "Umwelt" in early 2016.
